Fourteenth class (May 20th)
Please note!
There will be no class next week. (May 27th is Memorial Day, a holiday at UR.)
Class will resume on June 4th.
Summary
We began chapter 11 and addressed questions about ekzercoj 11.1 - 11.3.
Chapter 11 formally introduces some important elements of grammar for the first time. After completing the first half you should now have some experience with:
-
The reflexive pronoun si, and its use as the possessive sia. The most important thing to remember is that these words are never part of the subject of their verbs; they only refer back to the subject.
-
The suffix -ig, which expresses a “causing” or “bringing about” of an action or state.
Handouts
- Solutions to all of the exercises in chapter 11. (Don’t peek at the second half until you’ve done the homework!)
Homework
Read the second half of chapter 11, solve exercises 11.4 - 11.6, and answer the demandoj about the dialogue. If you have time in your week off, read further in Gerda malaperis!, which we’ll talk about more on June 4th.
